Craig Cordon’s wife, Summer has taken to Instagram to praise her husband who is the oldest player in the tournament
Scotland goalie Craig Gordon’s wife has taken to Instagram to share a heartfelt message to her husband ahead of Scotland’s World Cup kick off this weekend.
Former Celtic TV presenter, Summer Gordon, 31 shared a post on Instagram on Tuesday evening praising her other half, who is the oldest player in the tournament at 43 years old.
Sharing a close up shot of Craig, 43, with his goalie gloves on, she wrote: “Not many get to represent their country. Even fewer do it at a World Cup. Even less are there as the tournament’s oldest player.

“1248 players… and you’re still living. your. dream. Not by luck, not by chance, but because you’re you. World Cup week… see you in Boston x”
Gordon is the oldest player representing the country and the oldest player in any World Cup squad, making his Scotland debut 22 years ago, before three of the current squad were even born.
The youngest players in the Scotland World Cup team are Ben Gannon-Doak, 20, Findlay Curtis, 20 and Tyler Fletcher, 19.
If Gordon receives game time, he will become the second oldest player in World Cup history.
The goalkeeper’s inclusion in the Scotland World Cup team is particularly remarkable given his previous sporting injuries that put him at risk of death.
In 2012, Gordon suffered a patellar tendinitis which threatened his career.
This is an overuse injury that affects the tendon that connects your kneecap (patella) to your shinbone.
He had three surgeries and was advised by experts to retire after he was unable to play any football until 2014.
More recently, in March this year he travelled to London to see a spine doctor for treatment on a neck injury.
Doctor Usamah Jannoun warned Gordon of the life-threatening risks involved in the treatment he required for his injury to be fixed but was determined to make it to the World Cup.
Now, just three months on, he is preparing for Scotland’s first game against Haiti on Saturday evening, June 12.
He admitted that if there was no World Cup he would “probably called it quits at the end of last season.”
Craig and Summer, who have been together since 2017, share three boys together, Ace, Axel, and Archer.
Among the stress of Gordon’s injuries mixed with the excitement of the tournament, the couple welcomed their two-month old son Archer on April 9.
Summer shared a series of polaroid snaps to Instagram of the entire family taking turns holding their latest arrival.
The youngsters will all be supporting their dad at the World Cup with Summer sharing an adorable photo of their eldest son Ace, 5, to her Instagram Story holding an abundance of Scotland flags.
The mum-of-three wrote: “Last day of nursery before we leave. Heading in with flags for everyone.”
In another snap of Ace smiling, she penned: “Last day before P1 in August! Walked in for pick up and all the kids were waving their flags to ‘Free From Desire’ and Ace was waving them off. Iconic nursery behaviour.”
The Scotland World Cup team will play their first game against Haiti at Boston Stadium, usually known as Gillette Stadium Saturday, June 12.
Kick off is at 9pm local time but will be broadcasted live on the BBC at 2am on Sunday, June 13 for Scots.
