Joshua Burnside has announced a Belfast homecoming show at The Telegraph Building on Saturday, May 22, 2027. The show will follow the release of It’s Not Going To Be Okay, with tickets going on sale at 10am on Tuesday, August 18, via Ticketmaster.ie.
Burnside is an experimental folk songwriter, singer and producer whose music draws from alternative electronica, Irish traditional song, found sounds, world music and unorthodox production methods.
Raised between the drumlins and hills of Strangford Lough and the narrow entries and alleyways of East Belfast, Burnside’s work has continually explored the tensions and contradictions of post-conflict Northern Ireland.
His songs take in themes of economics, family, trauma and renewal, often set against a backdrop of tense electronics, lush folk textures and traditional songwriting.
Burnside’s critically acclaimed 2025 album Teeth Of Time was named one of BBC 6 Music’s Albums of the Year and received multiple nominations, including the RTÉ Choice Music Prize Irish Album of the Year, Folk Album of the Year at the RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards and Best Album at the NI Music Prize.
He was also nominated for Single of the Year and Live Act of the Year at the NI Music Prize, with support across MOJO, Uncut, Songlines, The Irish Times, KLOF Mag, The Thin Air, Nialler9, Hot Press, BBC Alba, BBC Radio 2 and BBC 6 Music.
