There are now only a matter of months until David Fincher’s Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood sequel arrives, coming first to IMAX cinemas globally for a two-week run starting on 25 November, before debuting on Netflix on 23 December, just in time for Christmas.
Given this, Netflix has finally started to ramp up publicity for the film, including revealing the official title as The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth.
This is a slight alteration to the title which was previously reported, with the film being known up until now as The Adventures of Cliff Booth.
The film, which will see Brad Pitt reprising the title role of Cliff Booth, has been written by Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood scribe and director Quentin Tarantino, but Fincher has picked up directing duties this time.
The title was confirmed in a very brief teaser released by Netflix, which shows Cliff driving and smoking.
The only official synopsis we have for the film thus far says: “Brad Pitt returns to his Academy Award-winning role as Cliff Booth, only this time it’s 1977 and it’s a very different Hollywood.”
Starring alongside Pitt will be Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Peter Weller, Matt Groove, JB Tadena, Corey Fogelmanis and Karren Karagulian.
Tarantino previously explained why he chose not to return to the director’s chair, revealing that he didn’t want to make the film his final work.
The director has long stated he only intends to helm 10 films and, counting Kill Bill Parts 1 and 2 as one movie, that means he has currently completed nine.
He said on The Church of Tarantino podcast: “I love this script, but I’m still walking down the same ground I’ve already walked. It just kind of unenthused me. This last movie, I’ve got to not know what I’m doing again. I’ve got to be in uncharted territory.”
The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth will get an exclusive two-week run on IMAX screens from 25 November.
The film will also be released on Netflix on 23 December. Sign up for Netflix from £5.99 a month. Netflix is also available on Sky Glass and Virgin Media Stream.
