When the rest of the world zigs, Adele zags – something she’s proved once again with an appearance at the British Grand Prix on Sunday. Spotted entering the paddock at Silverstone, Adele was wearing her hair in a much straighter style to her usual retro blow-out.
Sleek and straight, and without her usual bumped-under ends or subtle volume at the root, the singer’s hairstyle was just one element of her decidedly 2000s look: a McLaren Constructor’s World champions tee featuring F1 pin-up Lando Norris, orange-tinted aviators, large gold hoops and a “mummy” necklace.

Interestingly, Adele’s new hairstyle arrives as big, voluminous, ’80s-inspired hair is having a moment. From the revival of the wash-and-set to the resurgence of professional blow-dries, a high-volume coiffure is undoubtedly back, largely thanks to the influence of nostalgic shows like Rivals and a pendulum swing away from the pared-back, “clean girl” beauty of the pandemic.
Adele’s smooth, straight lengths and subtle money-piece highlights fit into neither of these trends. Instead, she could have stepped straight out of the early Aughts, her laidback, low-key aesthetic reminiscent of the turn of the millennium.
