Suede have announced details of the 30th anniversary edition of Coming Up, set for release on September 25, 2026, via Demon Music.
The newly mastered release will be available across multiple formats, featuring restored artwork, bonus tracks from the Coming Up era, B-sides, BBC sessions, new Steven Wilson mixes and expanded digital editions.
Originally released on September 2, 1996, Coming Up became one of Suede’s defining albums. It earned the band their second Mercury Prize nomination and produced five UK Top 10 singles: “Trash,” “Beautiful Ones,” “Saturday Night,” “Lazy” and “Filmstar.”
The album also marked the first time guitarist Richard Oakes recorded a full album with the band after joining Suede around the release of Dog Man Star in 1994. Produced with long-term collaborator Ed Buller, Coming Up is widely regarded as Suede’s pop album: bold, glamorous and packed with some of the band’s most enduring anthems.
Reflecting on the album, Oakes said: “You’re at your most creative in a band if you’ve got something to kick against and Coming Up was us doing that. It was like, ‘No, we’re not done. Just you watch.’”
To mark the announcement, Suede have also released a rare BBC recording of “Beautiful Ones,” performed live for Mark Radcliffe’s Radio 1 Evening Session on August 29, 1996. Listen here. The original video for “Beautiful Ones” has also been remastered.
Coming Up 30 will be released on half-speed mastered black vinyl, an indies-exclusive pink and blue blended coloured vinyl, a 5CD deluxe box set and digitally.
The 5CD deluxe box set includes the newly mastered original album, 2026 Steven Wilson stereo mixes, all the B-sides from the original single formats, bonus tracks including “Shipbuilding,” and Coming Up Live at the BBC.
Atmos and 5.1 mixes of the Steven Wilson versions will be available on Blu-ray Audio via Super Deluxe Edition, who will also offer an exclusive green and yellow blended coloured vinyl edition of the 2026 Steven Wilson Stereo Mix.
The digital edition will include all five CDs plus 2026 instrumental mixes, while the Steven Wilson Atmos mixes will also be available via Apple Spatial Audio.
The artwork has been restored from the original files by the original design team in collaboration with Peter Saville and photographer Nick Knight. The release also includes new sleeve notes by music journalist and biographer Miranda Sawyer.
The anniversary campaign will continue into 2027 with a Coming Up 30 12” singles collection, beginning with a 30th anniversary pressing of “Trash” on August 14.
The release follows Antidepressants: Expanded, the new edition of Suede’s acclaimed tenth studio album. Suede will also join Manic Street Preachers for a major co-headline UK arena tour later this year.
