The pressure to get the perfect wedding<\/a> photo is something every couple<\/a> can relate to. And in recent years, one pose in particular has become popular.<\/p>\n

After saying \u2018I do\u2019, the bride<\/a> and groom walk back down the aisle, before executing the \u2018kiss<\/a> and dip\u2019.<\/p>\n

Traditional, elegant, and classic, it certainly gets a round of applause.<\/p>\n

But some couples aren\u2019t convinced, calling the pose \u2018unnatural\u2019. One bride even said she was \u2018very scared\u2019 that her husband would drop her. <\/p>\n

Not a cute start to wedded bliss.<\/p>\n

But now, perhaps in part as a response to this terror, a new pose is emerging: the hand kiss. Here\u2019s everything you need to know\u2026<\/p>\n

The Carolyn Bessette \u2018hand kiss\u2019 pose <\/h2>\n

Millions of women consider Calvin Klein\u2019s Carolyn Bessette a style icon. From her capsule wardrobe to her effortlessly glossy hair, her style remains as influential as ever.<\/p>\n

Unsurprisingly, her fashion<\/a> legacy has extended beyond her wardrobe, with her wedding to John F Kennedy Jr becoming a blueprint for prospective brides.<\/p>\n

One of the most iconic images of Carolyn and John was taken as they walked down the aisle after their ceremony, when John paused to kiss her hand as she smiled.<\/p>\n

Aptly dubbed the \u2018hand kiss\u2019 pose by brides online, this simple yet chic gesture is now cropping up at more and more weddings<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Given the sheer popularity of the recent anthology TV series Love Story, which captured the couples\u2019 romance and untimely deaths, it\u2019s unsurprising Carolyn and John\u2019s wedding is at the forefront of so many people\u2019s minds.<\/p>\n

Wedding planner Georgie Mitchell tells Metro<\/strong>: \u2018It\u2019s certainly getting more popular. <\/p>\n

\u2018I think as social media<\/a> is at the forefront of brides minds now that they want to curate that moment and that photo.<\/p>\n

\n

\u2018It\u2019s a very timeless pose. I also think it showcases both partners nicely \u2013 nobody is bent down dipping, it\u2019s just two people standing together\u2019.<\/p>\n

Brides online also like the simplicity of this alternative.<\/p>\n

@H&N shared on TikTok that she personally found this pose \u2018so much less pressure than the dip\u2019 while @caty added \u2018I didn\u2019t previously know this was an option \u2013 I love it!\u2019. <\/p>\n

Lindsay Sawyer, 30, who is set to be wed this year, tells Metro<\/strong> she\u2019ll be recreating the \u2018hand kiss\u2019 pose.<\/p>\n

\u2018I\u2019m deep in #weddingtok (with just two months until my own), and it came up as an idea,\u2019 she shares.<\/p>\n

\u2018I think the dip and kiss is a nice idea but the thought of trying to orchestrate that, with everyone looking at you, makes me come up in hives.<\/p>\n

\u2018And trying to get my fianc\u00e9 to \u2018practice\u2019 is just never going to happen. <\/p>\n

\u2018So, the hand kiss seemed like an easier option for us to still get a nice moment, without all the palaver of setting something up\u2019.<\/p>\n

Like so many couples ahead of their wedding day, Lindsay is understandably nervous about getting the \u2018perfect shot\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u2018You get told by everyone \u201cyou\u2019ll be looking at these photographs for 40 years\u201d, so the pressure for the photos to last over several decades, where trends and themes are likely to change drastically, is a lot,\u2019 she explains.<\/p>\n

In her eyes, the \u2018perfect shot\u2019 will probably be the one her and her fianc\u00e9 are least expecting: \u2018I hope we\u2019re able to capture a quiet, sweet moment when it\u2019s just us two amidst all the chaos of the day\u2019.<\/p>\n

That being said, she emphasises that \u2018it doesn\u2019t hurt to have a few ideas of what you like\u2019.<\/p>\n

Georgie\u2019s advice? Have an engagement photoshoot.<\/p>\n

\u2018It might seem like that won\u2019t be helpful, but have some photos to look back at \u2013 see which poses you like, which facial expressions you look good with!<\/p>\n

\u2018Sometimes you can also overthink the photos and you spend the day worrying about that, rather than just enjoying yourself!\u2019<\/p>\n
