Just over a year later, they split in July 2022<\/a> and she filed for divorce that September after four years of marriage.<\/p>\n In a new essay for The Cut<\/a><\/em> published on Friday (June 12), Emily<\/strong> shared some rare comments about how her \u201cmarriage collapsed,\u201d adding that she and Sebastian<\/strong> stopped having sex six months after she gave birth.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was a violent transition into a new reality of screaming baby on my aching tit and ring on my swollen finger,\u201d she wrote. \u201cAnd then, in a time period that felt both instant and excruciatingly slow, my marriage collapsed. Six months after my son was born, my husband and I stopped having sex. Less than a year later, we separated.\u201d<\/p>\n Emily <\/strong>wrote that she \u201chated the condescending way people looked at me in the wake of my breakup,\u201d recounting, \u201cTheir furrowed brows, the pity in their faces as they delivered an \u2018I\u2019m so sorry, Emily.\u2019 I couldn\u2019t stand my pathetic reflection in their eyes. They saw me as someone who was unwanted, who had been left.\u201d<\/p>\n She went on to admit that she had always feared becoming a single mother.<\/p>\n \u201cHaving a child with the wrong man was the fastest way to ruin your life as a woman \u2014 it meant having no freedom, no choices, no emergency exit,\u201d she shared. \u201cAll baggage and no security.\u201d<\/p>\n However, Emily <\/strong>said that she quickly learned to embrace her single mom era and went on a hookup \u201cmania,\u201d boasting that she \u201cdecided to f\u2013k my way into a new kind of woman.\u201d<\/p>\n Emily <\/strong>said that she realized that her new single life was nothing like her life before marriage.<\/p>\n \u201cBefore my separation, I\u2019d never had a one-night stand,\u201d she shared. \u201cI\u2019d never slept with someone the same day I met them.
