old and new games, its Norse and Greek eras, and it&#8217;s in large part thanks to the game&#8217;s new protagonist Faye, according to game director and long-time God of War developer Ariel Lawrence.<\/p>\n<p>While speaking to GamesRadar+ about the <a target=\"_blank\" data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gamesradar.com\/upcoming-ps5-games\/\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.gamesradar.com\/upcoming-ps5-games\/\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.gamesradar.com\/upcoming-ps5-games\/\">upcoming PS5 game<\/a>, Lawrence touched on how Faye&#8217;s new move set allowed <a target=\"_blank\" data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gamesradar.com\/uk\/tag\/santa-monica-studio\/\" data-auto-tag-linker=\"true\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.gamesradar.com\/uk\/tag\/santa-monica-studio\/\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.gamesradar.com\/uk\/tag\/santa-monica-studio\/\">Sony Santa Monica<\/a> to play around with the original trilogy&#8217;s more mobile and aerial combat, while still holding on to the newer game&#8217;s more serious tone.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" id=\"elk-seasonal\"\/><\/p>\n<aside data-block-type=\"embed\" data-render-type=\"fte\" data-skip=\"dealsy\" data-widget-type=\"seasonal\" class=\"hawk-root\"\/>\n<p id=\"elk-8fabc572-6264-418f-bb98-ad588c93074b-2\">&#8220;I mean, I definitely cut my teeth on the first God of War,&#8221; as many people are. &#8220;I like both of those things, so it&#8217;s really one of those, &#8216;Can I have chocolate and peanut butter together, right?'&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>When it came to choosing a protagonist that can effectively fuse together the series&#8217; stylish roots and newer, grounded tone, Lawrence had a few questions. &#8220;What does it look like for those things to come together, and who can do that the best for us?
