There aren\u2019t many people in the world with taste as good as Ronnie Cooke Newhouse, who founded Details<\/em> magazine in \u201980s New York and has decades advising brands, from Comme des Gar\u00e7ons<\/a> to Louis Vuitton<\/a>, under her belt. And now, she has embarked on an entirely new project: inviting one of the women whose taste she<\/em> most loves \u2013 the Portuguese antiquarian and collector Isabel Lopes da Silva \u2013 to London\u2019s Dover Street Market<\/a> to curate an edit of her jewellery<\/a> and silver objects.<\/p>\n Silver jug, by Scarpa.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n Gold necklace.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n \u201cA lot of my friends tell me not to share places,\u201d Ronnie laughs over the phone. \u201cBut I love to share my favourite things \u2013 especially at Dover Street Market, with a community of like-minded people that I\u2019ve been a part of for a long time.\u201d What she has now brought to London is a reflection of da Silva\u2019s gallery, which she first fell in love with in early \u201900s Lisbon when, during a lunch break from set, she recruited Portuguese Vogue<\/em>\u2019s then-fashion editor to going shopping with her.<\/p>\n \u201cI called him and I said, \u2018I have an hour; please can you take me to your absolute favourite shop?\u2019\u201d she recalls, \u201cAnd he took me to Isabel\u2019s: the most beautiful space, filled with design-led jewellery from the \u201930s to the \u201970s. It was all curated through her sensibility, showed alongside great pieces of silverware and ceramics, and the mix was just so incredible.\u201d It was, she recalls, unlike anywhere else she knew.
