The BBC has offered the first sneak peek at the upcoming second series of Ludwig, the acclaimed detective comedy starring David Mitchell and Anna Maxwell Martin.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a wave of new faces joining this time, with Mark Bonnar and Sian Clifford stepping in as series regulars.<\/p>\n

Created and written by Mark Brotherhood, Ludwig quickly became the BBC\u2019s biggest scripted series since 2024 and the most-watched comedy premiere since at least 2018.<\/p>\n

David\u2019s puzzle-obsessed detective, John \u2018Ludwig\u2019 Taylor returns right where we left off, with John working as a Crime Scene Consultant alongside Dipo Ola\u2019s DCI Russell Carter, helping the Cambridge Police tackle some truly \u2018impossible\u2019 crimes.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s not hiding behind any more disguises \u2013 John is now officially on the payroll, but that comes with a catch: he\u2019s banned from using any police resources to look into his missing twin brother James or whatever mysterious business James was pursuing.<\/p>\n

Still, John isn\u2019t the type to let rules get in the way, and neither is Lucy \u2013 played by Anna Maxwell Martin \u2013 who is determined to find her husband, no matter the obstacles.<\/p>\n

A husband and father still needs bringing home, and the hunt for answers is back on.<\/p>\n

Returning the cast are Dylan Hughes as Henry Betts-Taylor, Dorothy Atkinson as DCS Carol Shaw, Ralph Ineson as Chief Constable Ziegler, and Karl Pilkington as DI Matt Neville.<\/p>\n

Also along for the ride are Ben Ashenden as DC Ethan Cole and Rumi Sutton as DC Caitlin Sullivan.<\/p>\n

Mark Bonnar steps in as Gareth Fisher, a newspaper editor with a cluttered desk and too many snacks, while Sian Clifford takes the role of local MP Joanne Kemper.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no word yet on a specific air date, but the new series will drop later this year on BBC iPlayer and BBC One.<\/p>\n
