Sara Cox has announced the launch date of her new BBC Radio 2 show, having taken over from Scott Mills earlier this year.<\/a><\/p>\n

The 51-year-old shared the exciting news today (Monday, June 15), admitting she\u2019s \u201cexcited\u201d to get started.<\/p>\n

Sara Cox announces Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2<\/h2>\n

Appearing on BBC Radio 2 this morning, Sara shared the news with listeners and her co-stars.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Vernon Kay, she said: \u201cOK, my big news is\u2026god, I\u2019ve gone all hot and excited. My big news is that\u2026there\u2019s been quite a lot of mystery about when the brand new Sara Cox Breakfast Show begins on BBC Radio 2.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been quite mysterious and going, \u2018it\u2019s in the summer\u2019 and waggling my eyebrows mysteriously. But I can now announce, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, and everyone in between, please do join me for my very first Breakfast Show on Radio 2 on 6th of July.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThree weeks today! Very very excited. It is 6.30am. The date is the 6th of July,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Vernon then asked her how many alarm clocks she\u2019s going to set, to which she replied: \u201c42. And it\u2019s the first-ever Sara Cox Breakfast Show. I can\u2019t wait \u2013 it\u2019s so exciting.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sara Cox\u2019s big news<\/h2>\n

Jeremy Vine added: \u201cWe can\u2019t wait. We\u2019re so proud of you.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAmazing!\u201d Vernon gushed.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd, you know, I mentioned the Toy Story news as well. I mean, I don\u2019t know where we go from here because I think we\u2019ve started almost too big. My very first guest on the Sara Cox Breakfast Show will be\u2026Mr. Tom Hanks,\u201d Sara added.<\/p>\n

\u201cAwh legend. The nicest man in show business,\u201d Vernon said. \u201cWoody at Breakfast. Yes, cannot wait,\u201d Sara said.<\/p>\n

In a statement announcing the news, Sara said: \u201cRoll on the 6th July! For generations to come people will (probably) say \u2018where were YOU when the Sara Cox Breakfast Show was launched on Radio 2 featuring the legendary Tom Hanks?\u2019 (and hopefully they\u2019ll reply \u2018listening and laughing along with a nice brew\u2019).\u201d<\/p>\n

Announcing the news, the BBC said Sara\u2019s show \u201cwill feature a fresh new format, packed with all the fun and games you expect with Sara, with the listeners at the heart of the show\u201d.<\/p>\n

A statement added: \u201cShe will be bringing all your favourite bits from the afternoon, alongside plenty of brand-new breakfast treats to start your day. Plus, she\u2019ll welcome some of the world\u2019s biggest stars into her studio for exclusive chats and memorable moments.\u201d<\/p>\n
