Disney+<\/a> has greenlit Dad<\/a>, a comedy drama focusing on the offspring of a man accused of a historic murder.<\/p>\n The six-part series has been created by Clem Garritty<\/a> (pictured), the writer who is also artistic director of comedy collective Kill The Beast. The episodes are being filmed by A24<\/a>, the production company behind Such Brave Girls<\/a> and Dreaming Whilst Black<\/a>.<\/p>\n The plot is explained: “Dad<\/a> will follow three grown-up siblings whose lives are irreversibly changed when their father is accused of a historic murder committed during their childhood.<\/p>\n “As their understanding of childhood is turned on its head and the pressures of adult life close in, Sammy, Ned and Jess are forced back together to uncover the secrets buried deep within their family’s past. In doing so, they must confront the harsh and often uncomfortably hilarious realities of the present.”<\/p>\n Commissioner Lee Mason<\/a> says: “Dad<\/a> is a bold, brilliantly original series that takes a dark and emotionally complex premise and turns it into something deeply compassionate, surprising and sharply funny. At its heart, this is a story about family, identity and the unsettling question of how well we can ever really know the people who shape us. We are excited to work with Clem and the brilliant team at A24<\/a> to bring this unique story to Disney+<\/a> audiences.”<\/p>\n Dad<\/a> is also the title of a 1990s BBC One<\/a> comedy series starring George Cole<\/a> and Kevin McNally<\/a>.<\/p>\n Further details about the new programme, including casting, will be revealed in due course.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
