The BBC has acquired the thriller series Kabul, starring the late Eric Dane<\/a>.<\/p>\n The six part series, which focuses on the plight of civilians caught in the evacuation of Kabul in August 2021, is set to launch on the BBC iPlayer on 2 August and will be broadcast on BBC Four from 15 August.<\/p>\n The synopsis reads: \u201cKabul, August 15, 2021. As American troops withdraw, the Taliban enter the city. The Nazany family, like many civilians, is forced to flee, fearing retaliation. In this desperate and chaotic situation \u2013 shadowed by the looming threat of an attack by ISIS \u2013 French police officers, Italian diplomats, German military personnel, and American intelligence services must somehow coordinate to manage the influx of civilians. <\/p>\n “How will each of them manage to save their own lives? The countdown has begun.\u201d<\/p>\n Alongside Dane, the cast also includes Tehran\u2019s Shervin Alenabi, Jonathan Zacca\u00ef (Le bureau des legendes), Thibault Evrard (The Night of the 12th), Vassilis Kukalawi (Kandahar) and Jeanne Goursaud (Pax Massilia).<\/p>\n Gianmarco Saurino (L’estate piu Calda) and Valentina Cervi (Medici: Masters of Florence) also star.<\/p>\n The series is produced by France\u2019s 24 25 Films and Cin\u00e9t\u00e9v\u00e9, while Kasia Adamik (No Escape) and Olga Chajdas (Imago) direct from a screenplay by Olivier Demangel (Atlantics, November), Thomas Finkelkraut (Thomas Finkielkraut) and Joey Lavy (The Shift).<\/p>\n \u201cKabul is a tragedy of the highest stakes,\u201d said Nick Lee, the BBC\u2019s head of program acquisition, in a statement. <\/p>\n He added: \u201cA warzone story which is propelled by the real ticking clock of the evacuation that was just five years ago this summer. Global politics remain complex, but \u2018Kabul\u2019 dramatises the biggest view of history through the smallest window of a human family.\u201d<\/p>\n Dane, who was best known for starring in for Euphoria<\/a> and Grey\u2019s Anatomy, tragically passed away<\/a> back in February aged 53.<\/p>\n
