A new true crime podcast series hosted by Elizabeth Smart will focus on the personal journeys of survivors of abductions, assaults and other traumatic events.
The weekly anthology, called The Survivor Files with Elizabeth Smart, is co-produced by iHeartPodcasts and Marwar Junction Productions.
It launches on 17 August, with new episodes released every Monday. The series will provide listeners with a deeper understanding of what survivors experience, moving beyond headlines to explore the long-term process of healing and justice.
Elizabeth, who has spent over two decades as an advocate following her own kidnapping, will guide conversations with survivors as they recount the events that changed their lives.
The podcast will use a hybrid format, combining documentary-style storytelling with intimate interviews.
Special episodes will also feature listener-submitted questions, inviting the audience to take part in the discussion.
Elizabeth said: “My hope is to honour the extraordinary strength, resilience, hope and courage of survivors. Each of our stories are unique, but so many share a common thread: the strength to keep moving forward in the face of hell.
“I want this podcast to remind people that we are more than what we experience – and that we are so much stronger than we believed.”
Will Pearson, President of iHeartPodcasts, said: “Elizabeth’s voice has become synonymous with resilience, hope and survivor advocacy. Through ‘The Survivor Files,’ she brings a deeply personal perspective to stories that deserve to be told with compassion.”
Joseph Freed of Marwar Junction Productions added: “These stories have never been more important, and Elizabeth brings them to life with authenticity and care.”
The series will be available on the iHeartRadio app and all major podcast platforms from 17 August.
