We just got another look at Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution at this evening’s Xbox Games Showcase. While many had assumed that Gears of War: E-Day specifically would be coming to PlayStation 5 as well as part of Xbox’s recent drive to release its game across multiple platforms, that is not the case.

But, it is not just that these games aren’t coming to PlayStation consoles yet. It looks like they aren’t coming to PS5 at all.

In a blog post following this evening’s showcase, Xbox Wire’s Editor-in-Chief Joe Skrebels confirmed both Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution aren’t timed exclusives. They are just exclusives. This is part of the company’s “focus on the return of Xbox,” the post reads.

Skrebels added that games which have already been announced for multiplatform releases “will stick to that plan”, and the company is “committed to investing in and growing Xbox both on console and beyond”.

Until very recently, Xbox had been adding more of its games to additional platforms, such as PlayStation and Nintendo’s Switch family of consoles. This included the likes of Grounded, Sea of Thieves and Hi-Fi Rush. Microsoft then went on to release the likes of Forza Horizon 5 and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on PlayStation.

However, newly-appointed Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has been steadily leaving her mark on the brand, and has evidently decided that those on Microsoft’s consoles need some proper exclusives once again. And so Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution are not coming to PlayStation 5.

Other Xbox Studio’s games are still going to be available on multiple platforms, though, such as Playground’s Fable. For everything else from this evening, be sure to check out Lottie’s roundup: Everything announced in Microsoft’s Xbox Games Showcase.
