The professional footballer lasted six days on the ITV2 show before leaving the show for personal reasons
Love Island star George Knight has offered fans another update after quitting the show.
The 28-year-old footballer was the first bombshell to join this year’s summer series alongside Yasmin Hadlow, but after just six days he exited the programme.
While his exit was not aired, producers showed his co-star Lorenzo Alessi informing the group that George had gone and wouldn’t be coming back. At the time the cast and viewers watching on were informed it was for ‘private reasons’ and he released a statement on Instagram stating: “Family comes first, always.”
George has since opened up further after leaving, admitting his shock exit was due to “a health concern with a member of the immediate family.”
He told The Sun’s Showbiz Fix podcast producers allowed him a phone call with his parents, explaining: “It is all very private. But it was a health concern with a member of the immediate family.
“They said they felt like they weren’t doing their role as a parent if they didn’t let me know. And with what was said, I just felt like it was the right thing to come home.”
Following his brief stint on the ITV2 dating hit, he offered fans a fresh update on how life post-villa was going via his Instagram Stories.
He recently shared a series of snaps of himself alongside professional fighter Johnny Fisher and influencer Big John, with the pair all smiles in what looks to be an office setting.
The star has been flooded with support since news broke of his exit, with many fans demanding he makes a return in a future season of Love Island or its spin-off which airs in winter time, All Stars.
“Great contestant. Brought the humour, brains and great clothes! Hope you can return someday,” penned one. Another fan remarked: “You were brilliant George, loved watching you, but family always comes first. Sending love and best wishes to you all, please make sure you go back on All Stars maybe?”
A third said: “You held yourself well and were authentic to the ‘game’ and very emotionally intelligent. I really hope we get to see more of you. The camera absolutely loved you!”
