The official synopsis for Heart of the Beast says: “After a harrowing plane crash, Special Forces officer James Belmont (Pitt) and his combat dog, Odin, find themselves stranded deep in the Alaskan wilderness. Together, they are forced into a brutal fight for survival against the elements.
“From acclaimed filmmaker David Ayer, Heart of the Beast is an intense adventure thriller that explores the unbreakable bond between a man and his best friend as they face their greatest battle yet.”
Speaking with GQ, Ayer has described the film as “love story” between James and Odin. It is a reunion for Ayer and Pitt, who previously worked together on 2014 Second World War film Fury.

This year, Pitt will also be starring in The Adventures of Cliff Booth, a sequel film to Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood, written by Quentin Tarantino and directed by David Fincher.
That movie will be released exclusively in IMAX on 25 November, before it debuts on Netflix on 23 December 23.
Its cast also includes Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Peter Weller.
Heart of the Beast will be released in cinemas on Friday 25 September 2026.
