Craig Fairbrass is back and ready for action as he returns as gangster Pat Tate in the new Rise of the Footsoldier movie.
Rise of the Footsoldier: Retribution picks up in the immediate aftermath of 2023’s ROTF: Vengeance, with Fairbrass’s character Tate on a mission to avenge the death of one of his closest friends.
Jetting off to Ibiza, it doesn’t take Tate long to find himself in trouble with a group of mercenaries running an arms trafficking operation – and the CIA agents who are keeping an eye on them.
In an exclusive first-look clip of the upcoming film, Tate is seen sauntering through a nightclub to track someone down.
As the party rages around him, he comes across a man in a booth, but he’s also drawn the attention of several interested parties who are watching what he’s up to.
Soon he’s drawing his gun in the middle of the club, which is definitely not the way to keep a low profile, just as the clip cuts off.
In the film, Tate is ready and willing to take down anyone in his path, but with other power players eager to not have their own operations ruined, Tate turns from assassin to target as he’s chased down by those he’s disrupting.
Will he be able to make it out alive?
Joining former EastEnders star Fairbrass in the upcoming film is a string of on-screen hardmen – including The Football Factory’s Tamer Hassan and Green Street’s Leo Gregory, who will be playing the mercenaries Tate gets entangled with.
Vincent Regan and Ross McCall join the cast as the CIA operatives working to take the gun-running business down, while Dancing on Ice’s Vanessa Bauer will be making her acting debut.
The film, which is set in the ’90s, is the seventh instalment in this British crime franchise, with Nick Nevern (director and co-writer) and Andrew Loveday (producer & co-writer) promising to make it the wildest yet.
“There was never a master plan to build Footsoldier into a franchise, but the support of our audience has made it possible,” they said.
“It’s also really cool that we’ve now started seeing a new generation of audience joining us. Among the fans we’ve spoken with, many youngsters have told us that they were introduced to the franchise by their dads!
“Footsoldier: Retribution is definitely the biggest Footsoldier film to date. We hope the audience will have as much fun watching this film as we had making it.”
Rise of the Footsoldier: Retribution is out in cinemas on 28 August.
