The Scottish presenter wasn’t letting the World Cup loss dampen her spirits.
Lorraine Kelly has shared the unique form of transportation she took to get back to her accommodation in Boston following the Scotland vs Morocco game last week. Not letting the loss bring her down, the Scottish presenter caught a ride on a “party bus” to get back to her digs.
The 66-year-old flew to the States last Wednesday (June 17) straight after her ITV slot to join the Tartan Army taking over the capital of Massachusetts. Ahead of Scotland’s second group stage game on Friday (June 19), the star confessed her nerves were “shredded” while sitting in the stands.
Unfortunately after an intense game, Scotland lost the match after Morocco managed to secure an early goal. While this result may have dropped Scotland’s position in the group, the Tartan Army wasn’t going to let the defeat dampen their spirits.

Up for keeping the party going, Lorraine’s husband Steve Smith shared the couple’s unique travel back to their hotel following the match. Taking to Instagram, Steve wrote: “Never mind. The bus trip back was good.”
Along with a picture of himself and Lorraine at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, he also shared a clip of Lorraine singing to a version of the Hokey Cokey while on a party bus with other members of the Tartan Army. Wearing a red tartan top, the star can be seen singing and clapping along with her fellow Scots.
Many fans have since taken to the comments section of the post to share their amusement at the scenes. One person wrote: “Brilliant! Fab pic of you both and that bus looks so much fun!!” While another added: “What a hoot on the bus.”
Meanwhile, one social media user commented: “Thank you again for your company Lorraine. Try and reign it in a bit next time.”
A fourth commenter also mentioned seeing the ITV host during the game, writing: “Great to meet you at the Morocco game! Thanks for cheering me up when I looked desolate after the game, it was part hangover!”
Lorraine had shared ahead of the game that she was set to travel on a party bus for the match, however many social media users were unsure if it was a bit of banter or not.
Sharing a clip of her interview with Heart Scotland, Kelly said: “It’s very difficult to get to the stadium. You can get there but the trains are full. The buses are full.”
From the centre of Boston, Gillette Stadium is around a 30-minute drive, and with thousands of supporters heading to the games this made securing transport quite a challenge.
However, Lorraine was able to secure her passage. She said: “So we managed somehow, don’t ask me how, we’ve got a couple of seats on a Tartan Army Party Bus. So thoughts and prayers.”
Many people were buzzing to hear about her plans, as one person wrote: “It will be the most fun way to travel to Lorraine.”
Another fan also wrote: “Lorraine is a true gem! Love her!” With a third adding: “Lorraine can blag her way in anywhere.”
On Lorraine’s last day of her Boston trip she took the time to try out The Boston Tea Party Museum and experience. In the caption of her post, she praised: “Great fun. Brilliant city – made all us Scotland fans so welcome. You never know we might be back to play more football. It’s not over yet!”
