Prince Harry has made a final decision on whether to bring his wife Meghan and their children to the UK. The Duchess of Sussex, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet will not be accompanying him on his trip to London next week, following a request for police protection being turned down.

Harry is reportedly set to travel to London alone after deciding it would not be safe to bring his family to London for that part of the visit. It also remains unclear whether the Duke of Sussex would accept an invitation to stay at a royal residence should one be offered.

The decision has effectively ended any immediate hopes of a reunion between Archie and Lilibet and their grandfather, King Charles. Although Meghan and the children are not expected to travel to London with Harry on this occasion, sources suggest the family remains open to visiting the UK together in the future if circumstances allow.

Meghan had been due to visit Birmingham on Friday, where she was set to accompany Harry at an Invictus Games engagement. The visit had been carefully planned well in advance, but was thrown into doubt after it emerged the couple would not receive taxpayer-funded protection.

However, there still remains a possibility that Meghan could still join Harry in the UK, the Mirror reports. A representative for the family says arrangements for the rest of the trip are still under consideration, meaning Meghan and the children could reunite with Harry once he leaves London, for engagements up north.

The Duke and Duchess are no longer working members of the Royal Family and carry out their own scheduled engagements. While Harry’s plans appear straightforward, his family’s arrangements remain uncertain.

This latest visit had been expected to be a normal one for the family and would have ended numerous solo trips Harry has made to the UK in recent years.

His wife Meghan has not returned to the UK since September of 2022, when she attended the late Queen’s funeral.

Similarly Prince Harry’s two young children have not visited the UK since June of 2022, when the Sussexes visited for Queen Elizabeth’s platinum jubilee celebrations.

Harry had intended to stay at a Royal residence, however concerns over security arrangements resulted in last-minute uncertainty surrounding the plan, according to The Telegraph. One source claimed he was promised safe passage in and out of the residence.

The Duke is expected to make a return visit to the UK in September to attend the annual WellChild Award ceremony. However, with his children back at school and the King’s busy schedule, it remains to be seen whether father and son will find the time to meet.
