The ITV presenter shared a hilarious Scottish sketch to Instagram on Tuesday
Lorraine Kelly has shared a hilarious Scottish sketch in a possible dig towards England ahead of tonight’s World Cup semi-final.
The ITV presenter flew out to Boston to join the Tartan Army in cheering on Scotland at the World Cup last month and has made her support for her country well known over these past weeks.
Meanwhile, her husband Steve will be supporting England tonight as they take on Argentina tonight at Atlanta Stadium. If England make it through to the final, it will be the first time they have reached this stage since they won the World Cup in 1966.
On Tuesday evening, Lorraine took to her Instagram Story to share a sketch of a fictional Mary Queen of Scots speaking to an English woman who can’t understand her.
In the video, Mary can be heard asking the English doctor for a prescription for her medication but the woman does not understand what she is saying.
The lighthearted clip is captioned: “English speakers after hearing a real Scottish accent for 10 seconds.”
An amused Lorraine shared the sketch and commented: “Can’t stop watching this – utter utter genius – makes me belly laugh every time.”
She then quoted the clip writing: “Your erse hole and your f***y.”
The fictional Mary is dressed in medieval clothing while the English doctor is wearing modern day clothing.
The doctor says: “I’m sorry could you speak a little bit more slowly. It’s just I don’t want to miss even the tiniest details and I might have to make some notes.”
In her thick Scottish accent, Mary then replies deliberately slow with more pronunciation. She says: “Okay. So. Are you gonna write me out a prescription for my f*****
g medication or wit.”
The doctor replies: “I’m sorry I still didn’t catch it, I wonder if you could just talk a little bit more Englishy.”
Mary adds: “Right listen. I’ve been through this before so I know the score. You need to hear every single gruesome detail, it’s a disaster of my f***ing life just so I can get my medication eh.”
Lorraine’s dig is all in good spirit as her husband Steve and their daughter Rosie Kelly Smith are both English although the latter made her allegiance to Scotland clear when she brought a Saltire flag to her hen do while Scotland played in the US..
The presenter, who is originally from the Gorbals, moved to Buckinghamshire in 2017.
Prior to this, the couple lived in Dundee and Perthshire for over 30 years. Lorraine regularly makes visits back to Scotland to visit her mother who still lives in East Kilbride.
