Apple TV brought the goods for its inaugural Hall H showcase on Saturday. John Cena’s high-octane stunt-o-rama Matchbox the Movie. Mayday — the Ryan Reynolds-Kenneth Branagh buddy pic we didn’t know we needed that co-directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein described as a nostalgia-fueled action comedy taking cues from Misery, Top Gun, and Midnight Run. A tease of the upcoming season of the multiverse-spanning Dark Matter. The surprise reintroduction of the presumed-dead Tim Robbins for the currently airing third season of Silo. A rapturous victory lap for creator Katie Dippold and the cast of Widow’s Bay (we’ve got that covered elsewhere). All presented on supersized screens encircling the venue in seat-shaking surround sound.
But it was the one project that hadn’t been touted in the program that really brought down the house: a sneak preview of Neuromancer introduced by star Callum Turner. (Based on our purely unscientific observation, the crowd may have been squealing as much for Turner as for the series.)
Here’s everything we know about the hugely anticipated project.
The backstory
Lauded as the foundational cyberpunk text, William Gibson’s debut 1984 sci-fi novel introduced the term cyberspace, the concept of jacking into a digital world, and popularized a nefarious security system called ICE (this one is short for Intrusion Countermeasure Electronics). It told the story of a hacker recruited by an artificial intelligence to pull a heist. Neuromancer also developed a reputation of being unfilmable, leaving behind a decades-long legacy of abandoned movie adaptations, with directors like Ridley Scott, Mel Gibson, Deadpool‘s Tim Miller, and Cube/Westworld‘s Vincenzo Natali and actors like Liam Neeson, Hayden Christensen, and Mark Wahlberg all linked to various scrapped iterations.
The plot
Per the official Apple TV logline, “Neuromancer follows a damaged, top-rung super-hacker named Case (Turner) who is thrust into a web of digital espionage and high-stakes crime with his partner Molly (Briana Middleton), a razor-girl assassin to pull a heist on a corporate dynasty with untold secrets.”

The cast and creatives
In addition to Turner and Middleton, the cast includes Mark Strong, Joseph Lee, Peter Sarsgaard, Clémence Poésy, Max Irons, Dane DeHaan, Junia Rees, Jordan Kouamé, Emma Laird, Marc Menchaca, André De Shields, and Isabella Pappas.
The series is co-created by Graham Roland (Dark Winds) and JD Dillard (Sleight), with Roland also holding down showrunning chores. They both executive-produce, alongside David Levine, Garrett Kemble, and Zack Hayden for Anonymous Content; Aubrey “Drake” Graham, Adel “Future” Nur, and Jason Shrier for DreamCrew Entertainment; as well as Jennifer Haley and William Gibson. Dillard is directing the first three episodes.
The release date
The 10-episode series premieres globally on Jan. 22, 2027 on Apple TV with two episodes, followed by one new episode weekly, every Friday through March 19, 2027.
The awards chances
Expect Neuromancer to be the focus of a major Emmy push next year. But even with Apple’s considerable campaign war chest, the network has a checkered history landing its genre shows in the marquee categories, even when they’re adored by fans and critics. For every Severance, there are the Silos, Dark Matters, and For All Mankinds that are well-reviewed yet fail to register above the line. Just ask Roland about Emmy disappointment: his signature series Dark Winds is on the shortlist of best shows on television that have yet to break through. At the very least, given Apple TV’s track record with all those shows mentioned above, categories like main title design, score, production design, and visual effects could easily be in play.
