The Reacher panel at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con made every moment count – with major announcements including first-look trailers, show futures, and book announcements.

The smash-hit Prime Video series, which is based on Lee Childs’ best-selling novel collection, is set to expand this year with its first major spin-off, Neagley, as well as the fourth season of the main series.

At Comic-Con on Saturday, cast and creatives behind Reacher and Neagley took to the stage at Ballroom 20 to discuss what lies ahead for the universe, confirming major expansions in all formats.

The panel included Alan Ritchson (who plays Jack Reacher), plus new additions Agnez Mo and Anggun for Reacher; while Maria Sten (Frances Neagley), Greyston Holt (Detective Hudson Riley) and Jasper Jones (Keno) showed up on behalf of Neagley.

Reacher’s main trailer was released ahead of the upcoming season 4, with Jack Reacher immediately running into trouble with a woman on a train, who looks terrified, but regardless brandishes a gun against the trained military officer.

Reacher is also grilled by officials (which he gets into a fight with in the interrogation room) who share the woman later died by suicide – or did she? Her brother certainly doesn’t seem to think so, especially as so many people seem to be after a hard drive that the woman seemed to have.

Unable to let it go, Reacher soon finds himself entangled with powerful people in order to get to the bottom of what happened.

Meanwhile, Reacher’s protégé Frances Neagley – the only other person besides Reacher himself to appear in all three seasons of the show to date – has her own problems to deal with… and her own show, with a teaser dropping for fans this weekend as well.

Becoming a private investigator, the teaser sees Frances (played by Maria Sten) following in the footsteps of Reacher, with her work soon seeing her engage in hand-to-hand combat, swinging through closed windows, explosions and a lot of machine guns.

But her latest case will become personal when a beloved friend from her past is killed in a seeming accident – and she wants answers.

Thankfully, Reacher has taught her everything she needs to get to the bottom of it, and she is determined to get justice by any means necessary.

However, as she falls further into the investigation, is she as ready as she thinks she is?

Reacher season 4 launches on Prime Video on 12 August with its first three episodes, before switching to a weekly release.

Neagley will debut on 16 September – in line with the Reacher Season 4 finale – and will drop all eight episodes in one bingeable moment.

If that wasn’t enough to keep you occupied, actor Ritchson confirmed that season 5 was already in the works, and will be based on Make Me, the 20th book in Lee Child’s Reacher collection.

Neagley will get her first book, titled Zero Margin, in March next year. It will be a collaboration release with Child and author Yasmin Angoe.

Reacher season 4 starts Wednesday 12th August and Neagley starts Wednesday 16th September, only on Prime Video. Sign up for Prime Video for £8.99 a month.
