Jessica Bosworth and Jesse Rosenwald have added a new title to their résumé: newlyweds. The MasterChef Season 15 Dynamic Duos champions tied the knot in the Season 16 episode “Royal Wedding,” with Gordon Ramsay officiating a ceremony held at Casa Loma, Toronto’s storybook gothic castle — and this time, it was the new Top 12 home cooks under pressure to impress them.

Gold Derby caught up with the couple to talk about how the on-show wedding came together, what it was like handing their menu over to a new class of contestants, and whether the altar or the Season 15 finale left them more shaken.

Jessica: This all happened because we had a finale watch party with a lot of friends and family at a restaurant, and the local news came. After they announced us as winners, Jesse got down on one knee and proposed. One of the showrunners caught wind of it, called us up, and said he had a really brilliant idea — did we want to get married on MasterChef?

Jesse: More specifically, he asked, “Would you like to get married in a castle, with Gordon Ramsay officiating?” We said yes about a thousand times over. Then, in true Hollywood fashion, there were weeks of silence before it was greenlit. We invited almost the whole cast, plus friends and family — it was like reliving the MasterChef experience all over again.

What was Casa Loma like? Had you been there before?

Jessica: Never — we’d never even been to Toronto. We didn’t know what to expect stepping onto set, and the castle was the set. We were blown away.

Jesse: We had a 6 a.m. call time, so we were pulling up as the sun rose over the castle. It was a fairytale.

It’s still a TV production — did the ceremony feel natural, or were there stops and restarts? How was Gordon as officiant?

Jessica: Anything Gordon does runs smoothly — he’s a total pro with charisma for days. We got to see a different side of him, though. He was “Papa Gordon,” calming our nerves, since we had a lot of nervous energy being back on TV and saying vows to each other.

Jesse: He’s definitely one-take Gordon. We didn’t have a real rehearsal — just a walk-through at 8 a.m. the day of. Gordon told us, “If you mess up your lines, we’ll do it again, no big deal.” We didn’t have scripted lines exactly, more things we wanted to say to him, the judges, and the new cast.

How much input did you have on the dress, the look, the decor? Sounds like you weren’t exactly bridezilla and groomzilla types.

Jessica: It was a real collaboration. The production team had beautiful suggestions but always wanted our input, and it came together seamlessly. I picked my dress and my look, and we both weighed in on the decor.

Jesse: Jess picked out everything I wore too — I can’t dress myself, including what I’m wearing right now.

You got to judge the new contestants’ food. What was your honest take, and could you relate to the pressure they were under?

Jesse: We’d already connected with a few contestants on social media just to welcome them to the MasterChef family. So we were in a weird spot: we felt for them, but it was also our wedding and we wanted good food. We wanted our critiques to be honest without being harsh. Overall, I’d say they did a great job.

Was it hard turning the menu over to them? You did get to pick scallops and duck — was that an easier call than your finale menu?

Jessica: I’d say so. It came down to trusting them with the creative execution — we picked the proteins, and the rest was in their hands. Critiquing was easier than cooking, but it hit differently, because we’d both been in their shoes and knew what it felt like to be judged.

Jesse: Being from Boston, scallops were a must — scallops were in our finale appetizer. Duck felt elegant but still crowd-friendly. We basically told them: run with it, do us proud. We remember telling the contestants, “Do your food, don’t get crazy fancy — you’ve got 50 or 60 people to feed. Do your food, and do it well.”

Are you watching this season? What do you think of the Global Gauntlet format and the regional teams?

Jessica: We’re loving it. It’s fun to be exposed to all these different regions and learn about the cuisines, the contestants, and their cultures.

Jesse: And how we cook, too — we don’t stick to classic Americana ourselves. It’s great that MasterChef is pushing beyond that. I’ve picked up at least 10 new ingredients just from watching, especially from African and South American cuisines.

What’s life been like since we last spoke? Is the MasterChef cast really as close as it looks on social media?

Jesse: Our season stays in touch every single day — we’ve got one big group chat plus smaller side chats. We recently met up with Season 14’s Kamay [Lafalaise] and Season 16’s Aishu [Challa] and rated Gordon’s restaurant together, kind of turning the tables on him.

Jessica: It’s the camaraderie of a shared trauma bond, honestly — you go through something intense and similar together. But these are also just passionate people who love food, so it’s amazing meeting people from every walk of life.

Which was more stressful: the Season 15 finale, or your wedding day?

Jesse: That’s so tough — they’re different kinds of stressful. Our finale menu, we felt the most confident going into, because it was our food and the parameters were looser. Going into the wedding, we weren’t just getting married — we were critiquing food and welcoming the next generation of the show. There was a lot of pressure on us.

Jessica: There was — though not in the vows.

Last time we spoke, you said you blacked out when your names were called as winners. Did you black out again at the altar, or did you feel more centered this time?

Jessica: I felt way more centered at the altar than I did being announced a winner with a thousand sparklers going off around me. Papa Gordon gets credit for that — he really eased my nerves. And I had this handsome man staring back at me the whole time. It was a surreal, calming moment.

Jesse: I think I blacked out more at the altar than she did. I was choking up reading my vows, and a couple times Gordon had to tell me, “It’s okay, start over.”

Looking at the full arc — competing, winning, and now getting married on the show — what has this chapter meant to you?

Jesse: It’s meant the world to us in so many ways. We met our people on this show, and we talk to them daily about more than just food. It also gave us the confidence to chase what we always joked about — becoming food critics, getting out of our 9-to-5s. We used to say to each other, “Let’s rule the world together,” and we meant it about food. We’re still building our pizza concept and looking for a co-packer, plus a shared provisions shop. We also just launched The Sandwich Cookie Co. — elevated takes on oatmeal cream pies, with flavors like tiramisu and a lemoncello-and-fluff version called the “Little Wynnie,” named after our dog, plus a Maine blueberry flavor. We’re doing private dinners and large-format barbecue too. Every day feels overwhelming, but in the best way.

Jessica: It’s been a full-circle moment. Our bond started over food, talking at the bar where we worked together. Then we started dating, auditioned for this little show called MasterChef, ended up winning it, got engaged, and now getting married feels like the perfect final chapter.

Jesse: Every time things seem to slow down, it’s like, “Oh, here we go again.” We welcome all of it.
