Adam Rutherford and Jessica Fostekew will guest present the next series of The Infinite Monkey Cage.
The pair will bring fresh perspectives to the long-running BBC Radio 4 science and comedy podcast.
With Professor Brian Cox away on tour, Adam and Jessica will guide listeners through topics ranging from human hibernation to the concept of nothingness, as well as exploring leaves and The First Britons.
They will be joined by a mix of academics and comedians, continuing the show’s tradition of combining scientific expertise with humour.
Adam said: “Physicists have had their throttle hold on Radio 4 for too long now. It’s time for some proper science. Is physics even a real science? I plan to run a tight ship, more monkeys, less monkeying. Infinitely!”
Jessica added: “What an honour to be joining the hosting team of The Infinite Monkey Cage. I’m a huge nerd so being at the helm of a show as brainy and prestigious as this a dream come true to be honest.
“What a privilege to get to be the curious clown and chaos bringer in the company of such extremely clever people. Let’s go!”
Brian commented: “I’m sure that Monkey Cage is in safe hands with Jessica Fostekew and Ernest Rutherford.”
Since its launch in 2009, The Infinite Monkey Cage has become one of BBC Radio 4’s most enduring science programmes, known for making complex ideas accessible and entertaining.
The new series will be available on BBC Radio 4 and BBC Sounds in the autumn.
