Slipstream Music has strengthened its commercial and licensing teams with two senior appointments, aiming to support content creators navigating complex music licensing requirements.
Alex Mearns has joined as Senior Director, U.K. Partnerships, focusing on building relationships with brands, agencies, and content teams across the UK and Europe to meet their music needs.
Jack London has been appointed Director, Enterprise Sales, and will be based in the United States, working directly with brands and companies licensing music for digital and social content.
These appointments follow Slipstream’s acquisition of Megatrax earlier this year and reflect the company’s efforts to scale its catalogue, which now includes more than one million human-made production music tracks.
The platform’s proprietary licensing technology enables customers to clear music at scale, reducing the risk of copyright claims and takedowns – a significant concern for content producers operating across multiple platforms and territories.
Chief Executive Officer Dan Demole commented on the company’s growth: “Slipstream has expanded rapidly over the past two years, both organically and through strategic acquisitions, and we’re only really getting started.
“Growth through acquisitions only holds if you bring in the right people to run with it. Alex and Jack are both proven, experienced operators in the markets we’re operating in.
“I’m very pleased they’re joining us, and securing hires of their calibre is the clearest signal of where this company is headed.”
Alex previously spent seven years at Universal Production Music, leading partnership strategy and client activations with organisations such as FIFA, Amazon Studios, Netflix, Warner Bros. Discovery, Banijay, the Premier League and the BBC.
He said: “Slipstream has built something genuinely different for the production music industry. Bringing together more than one million human-made tracks with a modern licensing platform is a real opportunity for broadcasters, brands, agencies and creators across the U.K. and Europe, and I’m looking forward to introducing more people to what the platform can offer.”
Jack joins from Artlist, where he helped drive the company’s expansion in the U.S. market. He said: “After helping scale a fast-growing music technology company and working with some of the world’s leading creative organizations, joining Slipstream felt like a natural next step. I’m looking forward to helping creators and brands tell meaningful stories through the power of music.”
Additionally, Joanna Gregory has been promoted to Vice President, Strategy & Operations at Cavendish, reporting to JD Adams, Global Managing Director of Slipstream Music.
