The third season of Father Brown spin-off Sister Boniface Mysteries first debuted in the UK in June 2024, airing on U&Drama, with a fourth season now also having aired on the channel in September 2025.
However, now season 3 is set to be made available for a wider audience, as it will start airing on BBC One and BBC iPlayer this month.
The first episode of Sister Boniface Mysteries season 3 will air on BBC One at 2pm on Friday 28 August. Meanwhile, fans are also being treated, as those desperate to see more will be able to watch the full season from that date on BBC iPlayer.
Starring Lorna Watson, who reprises her Father Brown role as Sister Boniface, the series follows the titular Catholic nun who serves as a scientific adviser to the local police on investigations.
Jerry Iwu, Ami Metcalf and Max Brown also star, playing Felix Livingstone, Peggy Button and Sam Gillespie, respectively.
The synopsis for the first episode of season 3 says: “Sister Boniface, Sam and Felix uncover the murderer of one of three actors shortlisted to play the next agent Jonas Best, and Sam is surprised by the return of old flame Ruth Penny.”
It’s a good time to be a fan of the Father Brown universe, as the mainline series starring Mark Williams has also been confirmed to return for a 14th and 15th season, the prior of which has already started filming.
The official synopsis for the upcoming Father Brown season 14 says: “While it might seem like business as usual, it is far from it, with Father Brown receiving a call from Father Lazarus, fresh from another prison break and hell-bent on revenge.
“The return of Father Brown’s most dangerous nemesis looms, testing the padre throughout the series before building to an exhilarating series finale.”
Sister Boniface Mysteries season 3 premieres on BBC One and iPlayer on Friday 28 August at 2pm.
