Disney+ will become the headline sponsor of The Overlap’s football podcasts, bringing both existing and new shows to a wider audience through its global streaming platform.
The partnership will see Disney+ subscribers gain access to 50 episodes of the new show, Stick to United with Wayne Rooney, co-hosted by Wayne Rooney and football content creator Mark Goldbridge.
This will be alongside 40 episodes of the established Stick to Football show, hosted by Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Jill Scott, Ian Wright, and Roy Keane, during the upcoming Premier League season.
In addition to the main episodes, Disney+ will offer exclusive extra content and special episodes for a limited period before they are released on YouTube.
Twenty guest episodes of Stick to Football will also be available exclusively to Disney+ subscribers for a limited time.
Despite the new partnership, both shows will remain available on The Overlap’s YouTube channel, which attracts millions of viewers each week.
The company says this ensures that existing fans can continue to access content as they always have, while also introducing the shows to new audiences on Disney+.
Gary Neville, co-founder and co-Chair of The Overlap, commented: “We’re immensely proud to be partnering with Disney+. It’s one of the world’s most iconic entertainment brands, and for us this is a unique partnership that feels right for everyone involved.”
Simon Pitts, Group CEO of Global and Co-Chair of The Overlap, said: “The Overlap is already one of the UK’s most successful sports entertainment brands and this exciting new partnership with Disney+ now gives it the worldwide platform it deserves.”
Wayne Rooney expressed his enthusiasm for the new show: “I am delighted to co-host ‘Stick to United with Wayne Rooney’ with Mark Goldbridge, which will be available to watch on The United Stand in addition to Disney+.”
The Overlap’s recent growth includes the acquisition of Mark Goldbridge’s YouTube channels and a majority stake purchase by Global, to expand its digital media presence.
The Stick to Football show recently achieved over 250 million views across all platforms, highlighting the scale of its audience reach.
