Production has begun on The Inbetweeners 3, a new movie starring the key characters from the hit sitcom franchise.
Earlier this year it was rumoured that Netflix were working on a new The Inbetweeners project, and now the platform has confirmed it is making a feature film involving the much-loved characters.
The producers labels The Inbetweeners 3 as “a continuation of the hugely popular sitcom and its two record-breaking films”.
Although few details have yet been revealed about the project, it is confirmed that Simon Bird, James Buckley, Blake Harrison and Joe Thomas are reprising their roles as Will McKenzie, Jay Cartwright, Neil Sutherland and Simon Cooper.
Damon Beesley and Iain Morris, who wrote the original 2008–2010 TV sitcom, 2011 box office smash The Inbetweeners Movie, and 2014 follow-up The Inbetweeners 2, have written the script for this project too, and are directing the shoot.
They say: “It’s been super-fun hanging out with our friends again, and we’re going to work hard every week to ensure there are no problemos making this new film for humans”.
A teaser trailer has been released showing Will, Jay, Neil and Simon back in the show’s iconic yellow Fiat Cinquecento.
