This Morning star Cat Deeley has opened up on co-parenting following her split from Patrick Kielty. The 49-year-old ITV presenter and Irish comedian Patrick, 55, confirmed their split in a joint statement last July, following 12 years of marriage. They are parents to two sons, Milo, 10, and James, eight.

At the time of the split, they said: “We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved. We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected. There will be no further comment.”

In a new interview with The Sunday Times, Cat has said that she and Patrick are “doing their best” when it comes to looking after their children, noting that the exes are doing things ’50-50′.

She said: “It’s about being as organised as you can possibly be. I have an amazing nanny too.”

Meanwhile, Patrick also spoke about the difficult split – which came just months after the loss of his mother – for the first time, ahead of returning to his hosting duties on Irish talk show, The Late Late Show.

Patrick has endured hardships in the past, with his father killed in Northern Ireland when he was just a teenager. He stated that no matter what happens he keeps moving forward as he ‘finds that is life’.

“So I wouldn’t file that [his father’s murder, his mother’s death, divorce from Cat] as sh*t. I would file that as the tapestry of life. Touch wood, I’m healthy, and my kids are healthy,” he told the Irish Independent.

Asked about his two sons with Cat, Patrick said one of the things that makes him the happiest is ‘just being there’.

“That thing of being able to do school runs, to be able to bring the guys to sport, being able to hang with them, being able to enjoy it and being able to sort of steer them in their lives,” he said.

Cat and Patrick initially met back in 2002 when they co-hosted BBC talent show Fame Academy, which ran for two seasons. Remaining friends for a number of years, Cat and Patrick announced their relationship in 2012, going on to tie the knot that same year.

The family back to the UK in 2020 after spending many years living in the United States, where Cat had hosted So You Think You Can Dance.
