Nothing like a 6-1 footy game to get you hyped for the Champions League season. Which, if you missed it, was exactly what Paris Saint-Germain did against Slovan Bratislava last night. (Despite being thrashed, an honourable mention goes to Suleiman Camara and his cracking top corner.)
Clearly, Luis Enrique has a few things to be happy about. But it seems he isn’t just in the business of buying really good players – Torres, I mean you – but buying really good trainers, too. Since he’s stepped out on the sidelines this season, we’ve seen him in a few different Nike options. Last night, it was the P-6000.

Paired with a slick, all-back fit, Enrique went for an ‘Light Bone Sail Pale Ivory’ colour way that popped against his look. They’re a bit dad shoe, but in a good way. Metallic stripes cover the mesh upper and layer between the famed Swoosh. It’s stacked on a chunky sole fitted with foam cushioning, that surely kept Enrique comfortable as he strode the side of the pitch. While the trainer is finished off with a nod to Nike co-founder, Bill Bowerman, through the “Bowerman Series” text across the lacing system.
Nike released the P-6000 a few years back as an honorary mash-up of two styles from the 2000s. The Pegasus 25 and the Pegasus 2006 were two running shoes that were very big back in the day, and they bought back the fusion just in time. Now, the shoes of an ’80s long distance runner is being styled on every fashion guy you see, often paired with trendy wide-leg trousers or short shorts. Dare I ask, is Enrique cashing in on the trend, too?
Look, there is some invested interest in why Enrique is going for Nike. The club have been working with the American sports giant for years, crafting special edition shoes for the footy and sneaker-heads to go ape shit over. He wore the Air Jordan 1 a few weeks ago that was first released in 2024. But since then, he’s kept reaching for the P-6000. He even wore them with wide-leg trouser for a French League 1 match a few weeks back.
Now Pep Guardiola’s out the running, maybe he’s gunning for the title of best-dressed manager. We’ll keep you updated on that one. But for now, one thing is true. You can trust Enrique’s choice of trainers as much as his choice of players.
