World Wide Web of Sports is now available on major podcast platforms, offering listeners cinematic stories of underdogs and unlikely sports heroes.
The podcast is designed for families, with real voice actors, original music and immersive sound design to bring true sports stories to life.
Created by writer-director Patrick Green and producer, composer and sound designer Miles Kennedy, the series is narrated by PJ Butta, known as the in-game announcer for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Patrick said: “We’re sports fans, dads and storytellers, and we spend a ridiculous amount of time in the car driving our kids to school, practices and games.
“We wanted something we could all listen to together — great sports stories with the same sense of teamwork, resilience and adventure as the movies we grew up loving. We couldn’t find it, so we decided to make it ourselves.”
The first season explores stories from around the world and across sports history. Episodes include the tale of Panyee FC, a group of children from a floating village in Thailand who built their own football pitch, and Tubby Johnston, the 11-year-old girl who disguised herself as a boy to break Little League baseball’s gender barrier in the 1950s.
Another episode covers the origins of BMX, when children in West Los Angeles transformed a local park into a dirt track, helping to create a new sport.
World Wide Web of Sports is available to stream on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Audible and other podcast platforms.
