As This Morning’s beauty expert, Nadine Baggott is all too familiar with sharing her must-have beauty buys and recommendations for viewers. But one thing we don’t get to see as often is exactly how she gets herself ready for each on-screen appearance.

It’s no secret that TV-ready makeup differs from everyday makeup, as it needs to not only look flawless under the camera’s gaze, but needs to hold up under the extreme studio temperatures too. However Nadine and her makeup artist Aga Drozdowska have shared a full breakdown of her pre-show routine, including the setting powder they use to keep everything looking perfect.

Aga gave Instagram followers a step by step look at how she creates Nadine’s signature glam, with a full list of the products she relies on to get her “camera ready”. But as any good MUA or beauty lover knows, your makeup lives or dies by how well you set it – even the best beauty products will eventually fade, smudge or transfer unless they’re properly locked in.

So, to make sure Nadine’s makeup stays firmly in place, Aga finishes off her look with the Veil Translucent Setting Powder from Hourglass Cosmetics which not only sets the products, but leaves Nadine looking flawless and shine-free too. It comes in three shades; medium, dark and translucent, with Nadine wearing the latter which is suitable for all skin tones and won’t affect the shades of the products used underneath.

The translucent powder has an ultra-refined, finely-milled formula which is 100% talc free to give skin a natural-looking finish. It’s formulated with light-reflecting soft-focus particles which will minimise the look of pores, fine lines and wrinkles, while blurring imperfections and texture to give skin an airbrushed-looking finish.

It’s also a great choice for Nadine to wear under the glare of studio lighting as it’s infused with diamond powder which gives a glow-boosting light refraction without any flashback or glare. Apart from making your skin look better, the Veil Translucent Setting Powder will set your makeup for longer and can be used to “bake” your under eye concealer to stop it from creasing.

Nadine’s Hourglass setting powder is a splurge at £50, however, so if you want something a little more budget friendly then there’s some other great options. Plenty of makeup artists swear by Charlotte Tilbury’s Airbrush Brightening Flawless Finish which is £40 and has a pressed powder formula, rather than a loose one, which makes it easier to apply on the go.

If you want a cult classic, Laura Mercier’s Translucent Loose Setting Powder is a favourite for a reason. It sets makeup for up to 16 hours, gives 24 hours of shine control, and is infused with vitamins C and E to improve skin’s even tone over time – and now you can get it in a handy travel size which is currently £17.20 down from £21 at LookFantastic.

But despite Nadine’s Hourglass Setting Powder being on the pricier side, it’s proven popular with makeup fans. One said: “Sets skin with without getting rid of the glow. If you have dry skin, you will love it.”

While another agreed: “I’ve tried multiple different translucent powders of the years and this is absolutely the best one, it doesn’t sink into creases under eyes as much as others and it’s so fine milled it sits great over make up, it definitely sets my make up more I’ve also been using it on my cheeks where my make up usually wares off and has helped my make up last longer.”

And a third added: “The most natural looking powder I’ve tried. Wears well over the course of a day. No creasing or cakiness IF you don’t over-apply it- and I apply quite a bit because I use it to somewhat mattify my very shiny sunscreen.”

However the Hourglass Setting Powder didn’t work for everyone, with one shopper writing: “I wanted to love this. I’m an oily girl, but putting this on seem like chalk. Did not make my makeup look better or blurring at all. And by the end of the day, I was still quite greasy. I returned this and I’m looking forward to purchasing the Charlotte Tilbury new powder because I have heard great reviews.”

Another said: “It’s a good powder, but for the price I was expecting this to be better than my Laura Mercier powder, however I didn’t notice much of a difference.”

But others were a big fan, writing: “I love this powder because it does not look cakey, just flawless, it lasts all day and makes my makeup look beautiful I love it.”
