Kerry Godliman is embarking on a television roadtrip series in which she invites fellow comedians to join her in the great outdoors, British Comedy Guide can exclusively reveal.
Coming to U&Dave, Kerry On Camping features the camping enthusiast trying to persuade her reluctant guests of the joy of living under canvas, as they visit some of the best and most distinctive camping sites in the UK.
The series is being made by factual specialists True North Productions (Terry Deary’s Twisted Tales).
Godliman, who previously appeared on David Mitchell‘s outdoor survival show Outsiders (pictured) and shared her devotion to camping on a round of Question Team in which she sought to coax a reluctant Bob Mortimer into a tent, told the Out & About Live website that “I love camping. I always have.
“I understand it’s not for everyone. But when I come across those people who waspishly declare that camping is uncivilized, and complain about the filth, the discomfort, and inconvenience, I just smile. There’s no point in trying to convert them. I just pity them. They will never truly know joy. I’m like a cult member, bewildered as to why anyone would shun this simple happiness that’s available to humankind.”

She added: “I like a campfire meal. I love to smell a campsite around teatime, the smell of barbecues and frying onions. That’s my favourite time of day, at dusk, when everyone’s started on the wine and lit their candles or gas lamps. That’s when I’ll have a walk around and discreetly look into their little camp havens. I love to ogle at their equipment and admire how cosy and efficient their camp is.
“I must confess the equipment is a big part of the love for me. I can genuinely get very excited about a zip-up kitchen unit. And I know it’s the equipment that can break the non-believer. I can see the hood-eyed indifference when I show off a new sleeping bag or concertina colander. Fine. Your loss.”
The comic, who recently reunited with Ricky Gervais for his Netflix animation Alley Cats, will soon be seen as Detective Inspector Andrea Dalziel in ITV‘s gender swap reboot of crime drama Dalziel And Pascoe.

News of Kerry On Camping comes as Travel Man, the long-running Channel 4 travelogue initially presented by Richard Ayoade and then by Joe Lycett, has reportedly been axed.
The Sun writes that the city break show, in which the host spent 48 hours in a popular location abroad with a guest comedian, has been cancelled after 13 series.
Ayoade hosted the first nine series of the show from 2015 as a spin-off from his Gadget Man series, before being replaced by Lycett in 2021.
UKTV declined to comment on Kerry On Camping.
