Looking for something new to stream? We’ve picked out the latest must-see series and films, so you can spend less time searching and more time watching.
This week: Netflix’s complex espionage thriller Black Doves is back for a new series. Super-spy Helen (Keira Knightley) is now the Prime Minister’s wife – but there’s no calming of her trigger finger. Ben Whishaw, Sarah Lancashire and Andrew Buchan all return, with Ambika Mod, Neve Campbell and Babou Ceesay among the new additions for season 2.
Also back for a fresh run is Apple TV’s feel-good sports comedy Stick, as Santi (Peter Dager) takes the next step towards professional golf, while Pryce (Owen Wilson) considers an unlikely comeback of his own. Pluribus and Better Call Saul star Rhea Seehorn joins the returning ensemble cast.
Tune in to Apple TV for the opening episodes of dark new drama Nocturne, which stars Stephen Graham. Graham goes into full Hannibal Lecter mode as a serial killer who is still able to run rings around the Pennsylvania police – despite being locked up in solitary confinement.
Meanwhile, America’s favourite vigilante serial killer is back on Paramount+. Dexter: Resurrection sees Michael C Hall once again don those infamous black gloves for another round of murder and mayhem in season 2. Hall returns in the lead, joined by a starry run of new additions including Brian Cox and Dan Stevens.
For the film fans among you, there’s plenty to choose from. On Prime, Stanley Tucci leads cheery heist flick Masterplan, playing a master thief who swans back into the lives of his estranged children and recruits them to help him steal the Mona Lisa. It’s fun, tongue-in-cheek and just twisty enough to work – and Tucci gets to show off some cooking skills.
On the same streamer, Staines Massive rapper Ali G returns in new comedy Who Iz I? following the struggling artist’s attempt to crack America and become famous. With his girlfriend Julie (Morgana Robinson) eight months’ pregnant, Ali is resistant to leaving the “chillin’, tokin’ and bonin’” life behind him. However, once arriving in the US, he finds himself at odds with new adversaries that make him question where his values lie…
Ben Affleck directs and stars in Netflix’s gripping and steadfastly old-fashioned thriller Animals, playing a Los Angeles mayoral candidate whose son is kidnapped. A mysterious fixer (Gillian Anderson) may be able to help, but there are plenty of twists and turns to complicate things along the way.
There’s no shortage of streaming options, and so to give you a bit of a hand, the team at Radio Times has collated the key new releases from Netflix and Disney Plus to Prime Video, BBC iPlayer, Apple TV and beyond, and crucially, we tell you whether or not they’re worth watching.
