The actor previously appeared on the podcast and now sits down again with Nick Grimshaw and Michelin starred chef Angela Hartnett over a meal, discussing subjects including The Odyssey, Spider Man, doing his own stunts, red carpet anxiety, tennis and his relationship with Zendaya.

In the first episode, Tom reflects on approaching his 30s, describing the release of The Odyssey as the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.

He also says playing Telemachus feels like the last time he will have the opportunity to portray a younger character at this stage of his career.

Speaking about working with director Christopher Nolan, Tom says he was “still to this day kind of pinching myself” after being cast in The Odyssey.

He also explains the challenges of filming with IMAX cameras, describing how the limited film capacity meant emotional scenes sometimes had to pause while cameras were reloaded.

Away from filmmaking, Tom shares stories about meeting Lionel Messi, hosting his first barbecue, taking part in the Hot Ones interview series and his appreciation for professional tennis players.

He also reveals that Zendaya is usually the person who discovers new restaurants when they travel together.

Discussing the pressures of premieres, Tom says: “I loved it as a kid and then in my 20s, I think I found it incredibly overwhelming.”

He adds that he now enjoys sharing finished films with audiences, saying watching them together is the most rewarding part of the process.

The episode also includes Tom’s thoughts on stunt work, where he says he particularly enjoys choreographed fight scenes, and reflects on learning from Anne Hathaway while promoting their latest projects together.

Dish from Waitrose is available now on all major podcast platforms and YouTube.
