Angela Scanlon, television presenter and podcaster, joined Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett OBE on the latest episode of Dish from Waitrose.
Angela spoke about her experience filming a documentary at The World Naturist Convention in Drumshanbo, Ireland, reflecting on the unique challenges and memorable moments she encountered.
She described the atmosphere and her decision not to fully participate, saying: “I don’t think I should get my fanny out on day one. I’m happy with that choice.”
Food was a recurring theme, with Angela revealing her fondness for Turkish delight and her approach to preparing meat.
She explained her method for enjoying chicken skin: “I will take all of the skin off the chicken. Put it back in the air fryer on max crisp, and that’s me. Filthy. Delicious.”
Angela also discussed her lemon intolerance and how it affects her daily routine, noting that despite her efforts to follow health trends, lemon water causes her discomfort.
Turning to her podcast work, Angela introduced her new show, Gift List, and highlighted her first guest, Louis Theroux.
She recounted the experience of interviewing Louis and shared a story about him being caught with cutlery at Joan Collins’ Christmas party.
Angela commented on Louis’s personality: “He’s really silly. And he’s like glinty. You know, there’s a real spark and a real- yeah. Ooh!”
Angela touched on Tom Cruise’s reputation for gifting, sharing an anecdote involving 100 cupcakes sent to Louis Theroux’s grandmother.
She also described her other podcast, Get a Grip, co-hosted with Vicky Pattison, and contrasted its informal, group-chat style with Gift List.
Finally, Angela reflected on her participation in Strictly Come Dancing, admitting she had initially turned down the opportunity but found the experience both terrifying and invigorating as she embraced new challenges.
